Thanksgiving 2013

Jer and Brit invited the whole crowd to their house for the FEAST, movies, football and crafts.  Alex upped the entertainment. While Jeremy was carving the turkey, he offered Strider $50, FIFTY BUCKS if he would eat the part that went over the fence last, complete with skin and fat and dripping.
FIFTY Bucks to Strider... that's a ton of new legos or pockets full of candy. He was all over that.  He thought about it just long enough for Alex to pull out the $50.  With that to look at, Strider did not slow down. He just kept putting it in.  Some of us had a hard time watching and told him he didn't have to do it.
Others cheered him on.  In the end, or after he ate the end, he got the money and still ate dinner.

We have always had a tradition to crafts with the girls while the boys do football.  Jodi and Michelle came up with painting projects for the kids but we had some issue with the computer and vinyl cutter that even the family computer expert, Don could not fix.  That part was delayed to another day.

This is Jordie who can smell out candy almost as good as Strider.

This is what you do when your tummy is full.  STRETCH out and wait for dessert.
Thanksgiving project postponed but very cute. Jodi and Michelle finished them up for all the sisters, which is just the way they like it.

Portland Quilt Show And Family

The best part of being sent by your job to do a quilt show is that you get to see family. Jami and the girls came down and stayed the weekend with me.  They swam at the pool.  We shopped at the Lloyd center. Had clam chowder and fish and chips.  Then Sunday morning when I was off the clock, we did my favorite Portland thing...

We walked across the bridge and into the city.  Which of course included more  food at funky little restaurants, and we hit Saturday market.  We got in line at Voodoo for donuts.  The line went clear down and around the corner.  But Amelia was set on their crazy flavors.  We'd see someone walk out with cereal or cookies on a do-nut and our mouths would water. And so did the sky.  We were in the rain and the line was not moving at all.  We finally settled for an elephant ear and caught the shuttle back to our hotel just in time for them to catch  the train  and I caught my plane.  I love spending time with my family, I sure miss these guys. It's crazy to have this kind of global family and jobs.

Lazy E Heaven

So Google and I had a parting of the ways...
They said there wasn't room on blogspot for any more of my pictures and stories.  Well, I wasn't about to argue with them.  Winter came and I went back to quilting.  But now I want all of my great pictures printed in a book, since I gave up scrap books.  Google and I are having a reconciliation.

This is my most favorite place to be with all of my kids and their kids and their kids friends and dogs and four wheelers and a fire with hot dogs, marshmallows, grahm crackers and chocolate.  Add guitars and projects and a candy bucket and lots of good food and for sure you are in heaven.
And for us it's branded "LAZY E".

The only thing better than just sitting on the deck watching the leaves turn, is watching the grandkids.

Inside or outside, the fun never ends...except when there's work to be done.
These kids work hard to play hard.

Cody and Conley .  Everyone helped cut and stack.
The Pit
They love to cross the highway to the "Pit."  First off, they always want to check the Geo Cache and see if there is anything new.     Logann  and Macy
The Pit has jumps and bumps and trails that they can race around.      Aidyn

This is a picture to go down in history...Jodi cut the apron strings and Strider and Payton drove by themselves.

Strider making some dust of his own.

Payton taking off a jump and Macy makin' dust!

One wheeler down... well slowed down.  Sometimes the small wheeler has a hard time. This trip it really had a hard time.  It lost it's seat on the drive up the canyon, so it just has a "Ramada" cushion bungee strapped on.  Kids Don't Care.  Still had somebody on it all day. They got it fixed and off they went up the fence trail.
I love 'em all so much.  This is so fun watching them all in a row going up the road... and guess who is last.  Gr-ma loaded down with grandkids too little to drive.

This is Jeremy's bunch.  And Cory's Crew.

Jodi and Don and her kids who think the cabin is better than DISNEYLAND. And what kid wouldn't, they don't have to stand in line for rides and they have a whole mountain side to explore and chase critters and shoot.

Besides, just look at all of these cousins there are to get crazy with.  If one isn't fun enough, the next one will come up with all kinds of trouble/fun.
I love my family more than anything.  Having them all have fun together really is heaven for me.

A new Fix

The floor in the cabin has had a rough 38 years of wear and tear.... The whole cabin has some rough miles on it.  All fun times.  Except for Jerry, he's always working at the cabin, and he came up with a new project.  We changed the floor.  He put in the laminate flooring from our family room.  He worked hard.  I wasn't much help, but I still tell him I am good company.  The leaves were about gone but still a few.  And everyone was surprised when they came the next weekend.

You Never Know...

You never know what to expect with the cabin!  We left home with a bit of a sprinkle.  When we got to the point of the mountain, all we could see ahead of us were dark clouds.  I had checked the radar for weather and a storm was in the forcast but not until about 11 am.  We had about an hour and a half to get there before the storm.  We were in rain, pouring rain and dark clouds on the horizon the whole way.... at the cabin - SUN!  Yeah!  Prayers are heard.  Jerry was sure we were going for nothing.  I just kept praying.
But we got rain and lots of it, in the afternoon.  Thunder, lightning, pouring rain, fun stuff at the cabin.  We played games and took a nap.

We of course rode 4wheelers and rode 4 wheelers.  We , well, some of us worked hard at the cabin.  One of us took a break.... The paint is peeling off the cabin, so we used our favorite  girl tools to get the job done... butter knives and pancake spatulas to peel the paint off, then we painted and drank diet cokes.
Our other project was a bit more male dominated, but we moved all the big cinderblock from the well house and the guys took it and filled the huge ravine in the road.  It was so much work.  They worked on the road until dark.
Next morning there was a note on the table that Conley and Payton had gone to work on the road... at the break of dawn!  Before breakfast the rest of the guys had joined them.

Then there was a Mean Bunch of Rustlers that showed up!  The Mullet Gang.  Scarey looking bunch in black hats and dark glasses. Scared us all into thinking we were back in the 80's!!

Still had time to do our favorite things, lots of shooting, a little hunting, lots of good food.

Almost Heaven?  Well, it was in really and truly in the clouds.  Clouds all around the cabin next morning. A few colored leaves.  Wow, it's pretty.
